Position Summary
The Estimating Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for Architectural Joint Sealants and Air/Water Barrier systems. This role supports business development and preconstruction efforts by analyzing drawings, specifications, and bid documents; performing detailed takeoffs; soliciting vendor pricing; and developing comprehensive proposals.
Preconstruction & Estimating- Review project plans, specifications, and bid packages.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates using On-Screen Takeoff (OST).
- Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Develop comprehensive bid proposals and scope clarifications.
- Evaluate contract requirements and identify project risks.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
- Large-scale Joint Sealant projects for Glass/Glazing, Precast, Cladding, and Wall Contractors.
- Large-scale Air/Water Barrier projects for Glass/Glazing, Precast, Cladding, and Wall Contractors.
- Review project specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Prepare and manage product submittals for Architectural Joint Sealants and Air/Water Barrier systems.
- Track submittal approvals and distribute approved documentation to the Project Management team.
- Assist in preparing and tracking change orders related to scope modifications, unforeseen site conditions, or design revisions.
- Document field changes and maintain accurate cost tracking records.
- Ensure all project-related documents are accurately organized, maintained, and archived.
- Anticipate project needs and proactively address issues before they escalated.
- Maintain a solution-oriented and forward-thinking approach to daily responsibilities.
- Prioritize tasks effectively to meet project deadlines.
- Deliver accurate work while managing multiple active assignments simultaneously.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, field personnel, vendors, and clients.
- Collaborate across departments to support project objectives.
- Demonstrate a positive, cooperative attitude and a willingness to support team success.
Culture fit and attitude are highly valued; the following qualifications are preferred but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with:
- Commercial Construction
- Architectural Joint Sealants
- Air/Water Barriers
- Above-Grade Waterproofing
- Glass & Glazing Systems
- Exterior Envelope/Façade Construction
- Proficiency with construction software such as:
- On-Screen Takeoff (OST)
- Bluebeam
- Autodesk Products
- Similar estimating and project management tools
- Strong ability to read and interpret Architectural, Structural, and Glass/Glazing drawings and details.
