About this position:
Grade Checker Location – Stovepipe Wells, CA

Wage/Salary Range: $68.29/ per hr. Fringe rate: 33.20 per hr.

• Monitoring grade achievement on projects and assisting the Superintendent in meeting quality production requirements.
• Operate & understand the use of measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Setting grade markers and guiding earth-moving equipment operators in slope, cut, and fill embankments.
• Calibrating base and rover survey equipment and managing construction equipment with GPS capabilities.
• Ensuring compliance with project specifications and maintaining detailed records for ensuring the successful completion of construction projects.
• Actively support and adhere to CEI safety policies.
• Attend work consistently and regularly.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

• Level of Experience Requirements
  :
• Construction Staking – 5 years continuous experience
• Topographic Surveying – 5 years continuous experience
• Knowledge of Section 152 of the FP-24 Standard Specifications, Construction Survey and Staking.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

• Ability to perform Construction and Survey Staking per Section 152.05 of the FP-24 Standard Specifications.
• Establish vertical and horizontal survey control points.
• Set benchmarks with a maximum spacing of 1,000 feet along roadways.
• Perform survey work to establish permanent monuments and markers.
• Adjust slope, reference, and clearing stakes as necessary during construction.

• This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.

DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements

• This position does perform DOT “safety-sensitive” functions (as defined under 49 CFR Part 40) and is subject to all federal requirements related to Department of Transportation requirements for those performing, or on-call to perform, “safety-sensitive” functions.
