Persons in these positions work a set schedule depending on the needs of the school. For example, some positions are assigned only 30 minutes a day while others could be one and a half (1.5) hours a day. Under direct supervision, assists school staff in maintaining the safety and well‑being of students during eating and playground activity by monitoring designated areas as assigned;
and performs related duties as assigned.
- Supervises students in the playground and eating areas.
- Patrols student restrooms to control over‑crowding.
- Helps guide students in developing good habits of sportsmanship and citizenship.
- Encourages and promotes courtesy among students.
- Ensures that safety rules are obeyed and applies school site student conduct code.
- Assists students in resolving minor conflicts on the playground.
- Follows school protocols for student discipline and office referrals.
- Assists with the preparation and signing of accident reports if students are injured.
- Directs students to health office as applicable.
- Assists and directs school visitors to the office; assists and supervises students as they leave or enter the school grounds.
- Reports unauthorized activities and unauthorized persons on school grounds to appropriate authority.
Experience supervising children is desirable.

- Conflict resolution strategies and techniques.
- Typical playground games.
- Work well with children.
- Understand, implement, and give oral and written direction in English.
- Communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities.
- Observe and enforce health and safety regulations.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Perform duties with patience, tact, and good judgment and within established guidelines.
- Maintain confidential student and family information.
- Monitor students and respond to situations in a quick and timely manner.
