Job Title
Under the direction of the Administrator, Instructional Programs, and under guidance from Job Placement Specialist(s) and school site instructors, provide instructional, clerical, and program support services for special education students, including students participating in Work Ability programs. Assist with classroom instruction, career exploration activities, transition services, job readiness training, work-based learning activities, and employment preparation. Assist in supporting student success in career and employment-related experiences.
Requirements/ Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & TRAINING:
Verification of high school completion and a minimum of two years of experience working with school-aged children. Must pass a Department of Justice criminal background clearance. Must provide a negative TB test. Experience working with special education students highly desired. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: A valid California Class C or Class 3 Driver's License, the ability to maintain insurability status, and access to personal and reliable transportation are required.

Interviews are conducted between two days and two weeks following the Final date to receive applications. The recruitment process will consist of an oral technical interview, written technical exam, and typing test. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
The following physical and mental requirements described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of employees assigned to this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Employees in this classification stand, walk, sit for extended periods (up to 1 hour);
use fingers, wrists, or hands to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend hands at wrist and elbow; have good speaking and hearing abilities at moderate and loud levels; tolerance to extended noise exposure levels; bend at the waist, kneel, stoop, crouch, and crawls to interact with students; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally to retrieve supplies;
lift to 25 pounds occasionally and frequently lift and carry supplies, while balancing own weight; have the capacity to push or pull 25 pounds maximum force. Vision (which may be corrected) required to see small print, color, depth perception, and field of vision. Persons with specific disabilities may be capable of performing the classification duties. Such determination must be made on an individual basis by the ROP's medical examiner, considering the nature of the disability, prosthetic aid, and the duties of this position.
