TThe GOALS Success Through Service VISTA project strengthens GOALS’ long-term capacity to deliver free, team-oriented social development opportunities through athletics, learning, and service-learning. Based in Orange County, the project builds sustainable systems that expand support for low-income, at-risk youth in underserved communities and adults with physical and developmental disabilities. It helps GOALS improve access to services and create lasting pathways for scholastic growth and workforce readiness.
The VISTA member will develop a data-informed school expansion plan for the Learn to Play Hockey Program by researching underserved communities, identifying and prioritizing Title I schools, and creating a school prospect database, readiness assessment, and expansion recommendations. The member will also strengthen school and community partnership systems by developing outreach materials, partnership criteria, meeting tools, MOU templates, and transition procedures.
In addition, the VISTA will support funding, transportation, and equipment sustainability by researching grants and sponsor ships, building reusable resource-development materials, and developing transportation options analysis, cost comparisons, and a multiyear sustainability plan. The member will create evaluation, documentation, reporting, and transition tools so GOALS staff can continue the work after the service term ends.
Ameri Corps member(s) will research and prioritize Title I schools, build a school prospect database, and create a Learn to Play expansion plan. They will develop outreach resources, partnership workflows, MOU templates, and tracking tools to support school and community partnerships. They will also research funding, sponsorship, transportation, and equipment options, then create reusable resource materials, cost comparisons, and sustainability recommendations.
Finally, they will develop evaluation, reporting, and transition tools, and compile a Learn to Play Expansion Toolkit for staff use.
