Senior Facilities Engineer

A leading engineering and project delivery organization is seeking an experienced Senior Facilities Engineer to support the design, development, and execution of complex industrial and energy facility projects. This role provides technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams and supports facilities from early concept development through detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop engineering specifications, calculations, and design packages for facility-based projects
• Define facility project objectives, scope, and engineering estimates by reviewing requirements, proposals, and execution plans in coordination with project and program leadership
• Lead facilities engineering efforts for:
• Gas compression, processing, and treatment facilities
• LNG and renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities
• Pump stations, pipeline facilities, metering stations, dehydration systems, heaters, filter separators, and slug catchers
• Prepare service, material, and construction scopes of work; evaluate vendor proposals and provide technical award recommendations
• Review vendor and contractor drawings for compliance with technical specifications, facility requirements, and applicable codes and standards
• Perform and/or review engineering calculations including piping and valve sizing, hydraulic analysis, compressor and pump design, and hydrostatic test design
• Specify facility equipment and materials, including preparation of data sheets and technical purchase specifications
• Support development of engineering man-hour estimates, proposals, and installed facility cost estimates
• Monitor and control facility engineering execution by reviewing design progress, specifications, and status reports; recommend corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, safety standards, and internal engineering procedures
• Lead procurement efforts including technical bid evaluations, vendor coordination, and equipment selection
• Provide field engineering support and lead on-site meetings with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders
• Review, redline, and coordinate PFDs, P&IDs, site plans, and layout drawings with drafting and design teams
• Lead and mentor engineering staff; assign tasks, review deliverables, and provide technical guidance
• Deliver internal technical training and knowledge-sharing presentations within facilities engineering disciplines
• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more facilities engineering focus areas
• Present technical findings, recommendations, and solutions clearly to project teams and leadership
• Work independently with limited direction, exercising sound engineering judgment

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or related discipline preferred)
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 7+ years of professional engineering experience, with 5+ years supporting industrial, energy, utility, or oil & gas facilities
• 5+ years of experience with rotating and turbo machinery equipment, including compressors and turbines
• Strong working knowledge of:
• Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Facility piping layouts, isometric drawings, general arrangement drawings, and bills of material
• Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA, CSA, and relevant federal/state regulations)
• Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills
