Job Description

Job Summary: Systems Specialist II provides technical support for Building Automation and Special Systems, including troubleshooting, programming, startup, commissioning, and ongoing service. The role supports projects from installation through turnover, working onsite and remotely to ensure systems operate reliably and in compliance with building requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Provide troubleshooting support for BAS onsite or remotely.
  • Use fault‑detection and diagnostic tools for proactive service.
  • Create and maintain special systems database, graphics, and programming as required.
  • Verify correct alarm, annunciation, and actions during system startup and commissioning.
  • Support and mentor System Specialist I.
  • Assist contractors on project sites and debug installation issues.
  • Supply support to Bosch Building Technologies and other contractors for building operational issues beyond controls.
  • Contribute to accurate estimation, design, installation, and training for building systems.
  • Document startup processes with daily logs, checkout logs, and commissioning documents.
  • Ensure timely software backups for projects.
  • Maintain existing installations, ensuring compliance with occupancy codes.
  • Complete time sheets, work orders, and other required paperwork accurately.
  • Assist in preparing as‑built drawings and operation & maintenance manuals.
  • Help transition projects from Operations Team to Service Team.
  • Travel to project sites as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in building controls or a related field.
  • Experience with programming and controls database management.
  • Understanding of computer networking principles, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical circuitry and interpret diagrams.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of AC power circuitry and multi‑phase power.
  • Proficiency with electronic testing equipment (volt meters, ammeters, oscilloscopes).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience with Distech, Alerton, or Tridium controls systems.
  • Deep understanding of HVAC operations.
  • Experience with fault‑detection platforms such as Sky Spark.
  • Proven ability to debug installation issues during static and dynamic startup.
  • Experience supporting installation personnel and contractors.
  • Experience creating startup documentation.
  • Industry certifications are a plus.
Physical Demands
  • Regular standing, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • May work at heights up to 6 feet.
  • Use of power tools required.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction equipment.
  • Occasional travel between job sites.
  • Standard office environment.
Additional Information
  • Compensation: $38–$53 hourly
  • Working Hours: Monday–Friday, with overtime and on‑call as needed.
