Role Overview

Senior High Voltage Estimator at Rosendin will be a strategic leader in the Renewables Pre-Construction team. You will oversee and manage the estimation process for complex and high-value energy projects such as substations, transmission lines, and medium voltage distribution networks.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare estimate from quantity take-off, vendor and subcontractor RFP issuance, bid leveling, and complete estimate assembly.
  • Identify parts of the project that may be key to making a competitive estimate.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Identify project risks and collaborate with the overall project team to determine mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical engineering teams during the proposal design and estimation process.
  • Evaluate areas for potential value engineering cost savings.
  • Evaluate designs and engineering to determine completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop and/or guide teams to prepare preliminary designs sufficient for estimating.
  • Provide leadership to personnel preparing discipline sub-estimates for assigned bids.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship for junior estimators.
  • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back‑up estimate figures.
  • Coordinate with the data and training group to develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data.
  • Prepare detailed listing of material and equipment items for the estimate and to obtain quotes.
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors and solicit quotes. Review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specs.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of all client‑required documents.
  • Draft scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
  • Prior to the issuing of the formal bid package, provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.
  • Participate in internal estimate reviews prior to submission to the client.
  • Participate in client calls for bid clarification and updates as required.
  • After successful bid at project turnover, meet with Project Management to fully explain job scope, potential areas of attention and other aspects for transition of the project.
  • Maintain files of all working documents to back‑up estimate figures and update the Rosendin approved estimating program.
  • Additional duties may be assigned based on the position’s role within the business unit.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of substations, transmission and distribution systems, construction technology, and estimating techniques.
  • Interpret computerized cost data and systems.
  • Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or engineering design drawings.
  • Identify and meet customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of specific variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and change priorities as necessary.
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to mentor less experienced estimators.
  • Willingness to learn management techniques and take on management duties.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive and an effective team player.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in the renewable energy sector or related industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience with Accubid Enterprise is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and project meetings.
