About the Role
As a Structural Drafter, you will prepare structural construction drawings and BIM models that accurately communicate engineering designs for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Working closely with Structural Engineers, Project Managers, and other design disciplines, you will develop detailed drawing sets, coordinate project information, and ensure documents are produced accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company drafting standards.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting & Modeling: Prepare structural construction drawings, details, schedules, and BIM models using AutoCAD and Revit based on engineering calculations, sketches, markups, and design direction provided by Structural Engineers.
- Drawing Production: Produce accurate plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and sheet layouts for structural steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and cold-formed steel projects.
- Coordination: Coordinate structural drawings with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other disciplines to identify and resolve conflicts.
- Document Management: Maintain drawing organization, revisions, sheet numbering, and document consistency throughout all phases of project development.
- Quality: Review drawings for completeness, drafting accuracy, company drafting standards, and coordination prior to internal and external issuance.
- Technical Support: Assist Structural Engineers with preparation of details, exhibit drawings, redline incorporation, existing condition documentation, and construction administration support.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote efficient drafting workflows, BIM standards, and continual improvement of drafting processes and company CAD standards.
