Management Auditor I or II – The City of Anaheim Audit Division seeks a professional intern auditor to perform internal audits across the city’s departments and programs. The role may be filled at either level based on the applicant’s experience and qualifications.
Essential Functions- Establish audit objectives and scopes for contract compliance, operational, performance, and hotel occupancy tax audits.
- Conduct risk assessments, root cause analyses, and develop logical recommendations.
- Prepare clear written reports and present findings to stakeholders, including the City Manager and Executive Management.
- Maintain audit project documentation and tracking systems.
Experience and
Education:
One year (Management Auditor I) or two years (Management Auditor II) of responsible audit experience plus a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related major; equivalent experience may qualify.
Certification: CPA or CIA is desirable for Management Auditor I and required for Management Auditor II.
Knowledge: Audit procedures, accounting and auditing principles, internal audit standards, complex auditing controls, program development, data collection and statistical analysis, public administration and municipal government operations, critical thinking and analysis, computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, databases) and federal, state and local laws and regulations.
Ability: Interpret legal and financial information, analyze and evaluate accounting and auditing problems, develop data for reports, evaluate internal controls, implement manual and electronic data processing auditing systems, prepare technical, administrative and financial reports, maintain data collection and record keeping systems, communicate clearly, establish effective working relationships, exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality.
