Network Engineer, Systems Engineer
Job Description
Network Application Engineer will work with high-performance Audio ideo streaming networks to meet the strategic objectives of our customers. This includes both pre and post-sales support as well as validation of emerging network technologies. This position will focus primarily on multi-vendor networks, as well as Extron’s AV Streaming and Control products that leverage network technology. Network Applications Engineers interface with customers through phone and e-mail correspondence to provide support for our products and services, and to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
Applications Engineers also work with the sales team as a technical advisor for Extron product applications, product recommendations, and systems design.
- Serve as an escalation point for general network and network enabled Extron product support.
- Review system requirements to ensure understanding, accuracy, completeness, and feasibility.
- Participate in formal design and implementation activities ensuring performance and adherence to standards and best practices.
- Work across multiple teams to test and troubleshoot issues, validate new products and technologies and provide solutions, designs, recommendations and supporting documentation.
- Work with multiple network vendors and network technologies to provide solutions that meet our customers requirements.
- Create appropriate technical documentation for the task assigned.
- BS degree in EE, CE, IT or ET. New graduates welcome!
- Hands‑on networking and training experience working with network equipment.
- Solid foundation in general network engineering including physical and logical network topologies, L2, L3, routing protocols.
- Understanding of basic network switching & routing.
- Cisco CCNA or Network+ certifications.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively and in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, (written, and verbal).
- Strong attention to details, highly organized.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional office environment.
- Some travel may be required.
- Experience working with multiple vendors and multi-vendor network environments.
- Multicast and Multicast Routing
- Software Defined Networking
- Implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting streaming media systems
- Video and audio encoding/decoding, compression technology
- Streaming media protocols (RTP/RTSP/RTCP, HTTP, RTMP. IGMP)
- Experience with systems that make extensive use of UDP traffic including streaming media protocols, i.e. RTP/RTSP/RTCP, HTTP 1.0/1.1, RTMP, SIP.
Salary range: $70,304 to $72,000. Pay may vary depending on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
