In this role, you will support inventory management and material handling operations by performing shipping, packing, receiving, loading, unloading, and movement of materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site under minimal supervision. You will track shipments, maintain records, reroute urgent deliveries when needed, inspect incoming materials, and ensure accuracy of documentation while supporting production and supplier requirements.
Education & Job requirementsYou must have:
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- A minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience, or an associate degree with a minimum of 2 additional years of related experience and/or training.
- U.S. person status for purposes of export compliance.
- Basic reading and writing skills.
- The ability to understand directions given in English.
- The ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- The ability to write reports and effectively present information to managers, customers, and the public.
- Basic manual and finger dexterity.
- The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using units of money, weight, volume, and distance.
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools.
You will be able to:
- Package shipments internally according to procedures or coordinate shipment through outside packing houses.
- Interface with internal departments and external shipping services or freight companies to ensure timely deliveries.
- Generate shippers and labels for hardware, materials, finished products, and detail parts.
- Perform visual inspections of incoming materials for physical damage.
- Review incoming paperwork for accuracy and receive materials into the ERP system.
- Report discrepancies and place nonconforming materials on hold shelves.
- Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine materials or containers to be moved.
- Open containers and unload materials.
- Load and unload materials onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
- Load materials into vehicles and secure loads using strapping, bracing, or padding.
- Transport materials from storage or work sites to designated areas, such as receiving inspection.
- Secure lifting attachments and signal crane or hoist operators as needed.
- Attach identifying tags or labels and mark containers appropriately.
- Stack, assemble, band, and bundle materials.
- Lift heavy objects manually or with powered equipment.
- Operate industrial trucks or electric hoists to move materials and products.
- Maintain a clean work area and perform other assigned duties.
