Sanitation
Job Summary:
The Sanitation Clerk will play an important role in the Fresh-cut Produce Commissary by cleaning production equipment, structures, and work areas in the commissary. This person will be handling and preparing cleaning chemicals, sanitizers, and chemical concentrations. Sanitation Associates will work with a team after the production has ended but collaborate extensively with other department staff to ensure that food safety and plant hygiene is executed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Sanitation Clerk plays an important role in the sanitation hygiene of Fresh-cut produce commissary and in doing so will perform a variety of tasks. Some of these tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Knowledge in usage of sanitation chemicals, environmental contamination, and cleaning and reassembling equipment procedures.
- Require an understanding of FDA regulations, GMP’s, HACCP, SOP’s and SSOP’s
- Reading chemical labels or Safety Data Sheets (SDS) - how to properly handle chemicals they will be using for plant sanitation.
- Maintain a strategic sanitation program, policies, plans and processes to ensure that sanitary performance as well as supports Food Safety requirement towards regulatory compliance
- Ensure that the plant is cleaned daily and ready to start production on time
- Maintain a safe work environment by properly implementing the IIPP (Injury Illness Prevention Programs) – Always raise safety awareness for chemical handling and equipment operation with Tag out Lock out program.
- Ensure that the company food safety guidelines are implemented daily
- Maintain good communication with peers, and other members of management
- Completing Sanitation Logs
- Create and maintain an efficient, hygienic, and positive working environment
- Promote health and safety in the workplace
- Display good work ethic, resourcefulness, and organization.
- Any issues noted like equipment or parts damaged during the daily tasks must be reported to immediate supervisor and/or QA/Production managers.
- Assist with any production tasks as required. This will include:
Washing, processing, weighing and packaging product. - Use forklift equipment as needed to complete tasks.
- Operate machinery in production as needed.
- Sanitation Workers spend all their time on their feet and moving. Additionally, they may find themselves using ladders to reach high areas. Significant strength is required for many cleaning operations. Sanitation Workers must be able to control high-pressure hoses, lift heavy containers of chemicals, and empty trash receptacles around production. They could be expected to lift loads of 50 pounds or more in a single motion.
- Sanitation Workers must use their senses to discover possible sanitation or equipment problems, many work independently but they may work together to clean different parts of the same facility, or help when there are extra duties, or help out a colleagues/different departments when their duties have already been completed.
- Sanitation workers will perform their duties in a cold wet room environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Document Use: Prepares various reports and forms to document cleaning schedule, able to read documents and diagrams.
- Job Task Planning and Organizing: Be prepared for any unexpected changes that may occur during their shift and need to be reported to the immediate supervisor and/or QA/Production manager.
