Cable & Harness Assembler position will play a key role within a team that will work together to assemble our customer’s product. The ability to perform effectively in a manufacturing environment and in conjunction with meeting delivery schedules and customer requirements is critical to this position.
Responsibilities- This position will perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as cables and harnesses.
- Learn to use basic hand tools, cutters, wire strippers, hand crimpers, scissors, soldering iron, heat gun.
- Maintain equipment by performing regular inspection, cleaning, servicing, and routine and preventative maintenance.
- Read and understand customer drawings, parts list, wire list, specifications, and assembly router for step-by-step instructions on how to manufacture the wire harness and cable assembly.
- Produce wire harness and cable assemblies using hand and/or power tools (including specialized crimpers, drills, soldering tools, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, wire strippers, precision measuring instruments, etc.).
- Perform daily cable and harness techniques (wire cutting, cable prep and layup, connectorization, crimping, soldering, jacketing, braiding, molding, use of lacing tape and spot ties for open wire bundles, testing, etc.).
- Make continuity checks on work in process and completed assemblies.
- Conduct in-process inspections on product in accordance with quality specifications.
- Testing and troubleshooting of subassemblies at 1st, 2nd and final test.
- Use Microsoft Access to check-out and check-in tools used during production.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering team to correct and improve any documents related to the assembly process.
- Perform a number of complex, sometimes repetitive, electro-mechanical assembly operations of wire harnessing parts, components and subassemblies.
- Follow health and safety rules, properly use provided safety equipment and exercise caution in all work activities.
- Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent - Experience:
3 to 5 years in a wire harness and cable assembly manufacturing environment - Electro-Mechanical assembly experience
- Strong crimping, connectorization and soldering skills
- J-STD Certification is preferred but not required
- Must be able to work under a microscope for inspection purposes
- Manual dexterity to handle small parts with speed and precision
- Ability to route cable bundles of various sizes and weights
- Technical literacy to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, BOMs and blueprints
- Strong safety standards and attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team
- English reading, writing and speaking proficiency
- Visual acuity (color, depth perception, field of vision)
- This position is subject to ITAR; U.S. person status is required under ITAR regulations
- Stand or sit for long periods; occasional lifting up to 30 pounds
- Work under safe conditions with some exposure to noise or heat
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the Cable Assembly area
