CNC Programmer / Setup Machinist – Mastercam

, an AS9100 and ITAR-certified aerospace manufacturer in Anaheim, California, is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Setup Machinist with advanced Mastercam skills.
This is a hands-on programmer/operator role
, not a programming-only position. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly at CNC machine controls and can take a part from print or CAD model through programming, setup, prove-out, troubleshooting, and production release. This role supports precision aerospace and defense machining environments where accuracy, efficiency, and process control are critical.
- Program CNC mills using Mastercam for 3-axis, 3+2, and simultaneous 5-axis machining
- Set up CNC machines, prove out programs, and support production runs
- Work directly at machine controls to troubleshoot and refine processes
- Read and edit G-code safely for troubleshooting and optimization
- Develop machining strategies for complex aerospace components
- Select and optimize tooling, cutting parameters, speeds, feeds, and chip control
- Design and improve fixtures, soft jaws, and work holding solutions
- Review blueprints, CAD models, GD&T, and customer requirements
- Create setup sheets, tooling lists, and work instructions
- Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and in-process quality checks
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve issues
- Drive continuous improvement in cycle time, setup time, tool life, and scrap reduction
- 8+ years CNC machining, setup, or milling experience
- 5+ years Mastercam programming experience
- Strong experience with 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling
- Experience with 3+2 and/or simultaneous 5-axis machining
- Hands-on CNC setup, prove-out, and production support experience
- Strong G-code knowledge with ability to troubleshoot at the machine
- Ability to read blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T
- Strong understanding of tooling, machining strategies, and work holding
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-precision manufacturing environments
- Ability to work directly at CNC machine controls (not a desk-only role)
- Haas CNC mills and Haas controls experience
- AS9100 manufacturing environment experience
- Solid Works for model review and support
- Macro B programming knowledge
- Post-processor editing experience
- Mastercam certification or NIMS credentials
- Work on precision aerospace and defense components
- Hands-on role combining programming, setup, and machining responsibility
- Direct influence on tooling, fixturing, and manufacturing processes
- AS9100 and ITAR-certified production environment
