The shop combines CNC machining with precision sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, forming, welding, and engineering, giving machinists exposure to a broad mix of parts, fixtures, assemblies, and secondary operations.
This first-shift role is for an experienced setup machinist who wants ownership of complete setups and the opportunity to work across Haas 3-axis and 5-axis mills. ABC Sheet Metal maintains AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems, so blueprint discipline, inspection, traceability, and consistent process control are central to the work. You will have the opportunity to solve machining and work holding problems, collaborate with programming and quality, and keep developing your 5-axis capabilities in a stable, diversified manufacturing environment.
Whatyou'll be doing
- Set up and operate Haas 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
- Complete tooling, fixture, work holding, offset, and first-piece setup activities.
- Read blueprints, setup sheets, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
- Make basic G-code edits and review Mastercam-generated programs.
- Inspect parts with micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges.
- Build or modify fixtures, soft jaws, work holding, and setup tooling.
- Troubleshoot dimensional, tooling, setup, and surface-finish issues.
- Adjust offsets, speeds, feeds, and tooling to maintain quality.
- Support manual equipment including a Bridgeport-style mill, band saw, and drill press.
- Work with programming, quality, and production leadership to improve setup time, cycle time, and part quality.
- Haas 3-axis CNC vertical mills
- Haas 5-axis machining, including a verified Haas UMC-1000
- Haas controls and basic G-code editing
- Mastercam program review and basic programming support
- Bridgeport-style manual mill, band saw, drill press, and conventional shop tools
- Micrometers, calipers, indicators, and height gauges
- AS9100 Rev D and ISO 9001:2015 quality systems
- Precision aerospace and commercial metal fabrication environment
- Haas 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining
- Full-service manufacturing from precision sheet metal through heavy plate
- Laser cutting, forming, welding, CNC punching, and engineering capabilities
- Work involving custom fixtures, formed parts, weldments, and secondary machining
- More than 3,000 customers served across diverse industries

- Approximately 6-8 years of CNC setup and machining experience.
- Hands-on Haas mill setup and operation experience.
- Experience with both 3-axis and 5-axis milling.
- Blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
- Ability to make basic G-code edits.
- Mastercam experience or the ability to review Mastercam-generated programs.
- In-process inspection experience.
- Custom fixturing, work holding, soft-jaw, and setup-tooling experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and dependable, self-directed work habits.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience.
- Lathe setup or operation experience.
- Haas UMC-series 5-axis experience.
- Haas or Renishaw probing experience.
- Experience in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 environment.
- Experience machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, or other aerospace materials.
