Job DescriptionUnder limited supervision, the candidate will conduct evaluation, diagnostic, integration, and final acceptance testing of airborne, commercial, surface ship, and sub‑surface vessel electronic equipment. The role includes troubleshooting to component level and using a variety of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, HiPot testers, LCR meters, automated test equipment, and custom‑made fixtures. When procedures are unavailable, the technician will consult with lead or supervisory personnel and will document all test findings as directed by departmental procedures.
EssentialFunctions
- Tests and troubleshoots complex printed wiring assemblies, subassemblies, modules, and systems using functional, individual acceptance, technical repair, and quality test procedures.
- Performs factory acceptance tests of completed systems using quality test instructions and procedures.
- Identifies non‑conforming material and initiates material discrepancy reports, FR/FF reports in TipQA, and break‑out shop orders as applicable.
- Programs and verifies programmable integrated circuits using approved procedures and quality assurance software.
- Initiates changes to test documents using a quality test change request form.
- Documents information for failure analysis and reporting through the failure reporting and corrective action system.
- Supports engineering for first‑article testing and qualification testing as required.
- As directed by management, tests and troubleshoots test equipment and custom‑made fixtures and test sets.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or an associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- U.S. citizenship required with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow engineering orders, quality procedures, test procedures, and operating instructions.
- Good working knowledge of basic analog and digital components and circuitry.
- Ability to analyze and interpret drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
- Accuracy in documenting test failures and daily status updates.
- Proficiency with general electronic test equipment.
- Reading and interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Writing routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective public speaking to employee groups.
- Proficiency in arithmetic operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Computing rates, ratios, and percentages and interpreting bar graphs.
- Basic algebraic calculations of current, voltage, power, reactance, impedance, and frequency.
$68,500 – $127,000 (California)
