Job Description:
The Quality Inspection Manager provides leadership for the Operations Quality Inspection Team and is accountable for inspection performance and execution across the Anaheim site. This role oversees inspection operations and personnel, while partnering closely with Production, Operations, Quality Engineering, and site Quality leadership to support daily production flow and business objectives. The position is responsible for leading the Inspection Group in improving products, processes, and execution through clear priorities, organizational alignment, and measurable results.
The Quality Inspection Manager plays a key role in advancing operational performance and reports directly to the Senior Manager, Quality Management.
Essential Functions:
* Lead and manage Operations Inspection team in support of all Site Programs, from kit release, in-process inspection through final assembly, final inspection, and all phases of manufacturing, at sub assembly and top assembly levels.
* Build and sustain an effective and efficient Quality Assurance Inspection Team via direct Gemba support and effective implementation and tracking of all Operations Quality Metrics in accordance with Work Center schedules.
* Partner with senior leadership and collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Quality Control, and other stakeholders to ensure first-time quality performance and customer success.
* Support the Quality Corrective Action Board (CAB) and Zero-Defect Planning (ZDP) implementation to improve quality performance and foster a zero-defect/zero-escape culture.
* Support applicable phases of New Product Development (NPD), including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
* Participate in and support customer engagements related to quality performance, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Drive performance against key strategic quality metrics, including Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), customer escapes, DPPM/defect reduction, and First Pass Yield (FPY).
* Ensure compliance with applicable industry, regulatory, and statutory requirements, including DoD, FAA, and federal, state, and local regulations.
* Provide inspector training, as well as logistical and infrastructure support for quality initiatives.
* Develop and implement inspection planning, inspection methods, and inspection procedures to verify product reliability, repeatability, and reproducibility.
* Support internal audits and drive improvement actions based on audit results and summary findings.
* Support program budgets and monitor expenditures.
* Apply advanced quality tools and principles in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
* Maintain working knowledge of and experience with industry standards such as ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, AS9145, and related quality management system requirements.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years of related experience; or a graduate degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of related experience is required.
