About the Job

The Buyer is responsible for managing the end‑to‑end retail merchandising process, including product selection, vendor negotiations, and inventory planning. This role supports the company’s buying strategy by ensuring product assortments meet customer demand, align with brand, and meet financial objectives. The Buyer may also mentor junior‑level buyers and support daily operations.

A Day in the Life
  • Lead the product selection process for a specific category or a broad range of categories, developing buying strategies aligned with business goals and customer preferences.
  • Negotiate prices, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers to secure favorable deals, manage relationships and ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Control the buying budget, ensuring purchases align with financial targets.
  • Monitor product profitability and adjust the assortment as needed.
  • Forecast demand, adjust inventory levels based on sales trends, and manage stock to avoid overstocking or stockouts.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor offerings, and consumer behavior to make informed decisions about the product mix.
  • Stay ahead of trends and make strategic decisions based on data and intuition.
  • Work closely with marketing, finance, and supply‑chain teams to integrate purchasing strategies across the company.
What It Takes to Join
  • 3–5 years experience in retail merchandising, with a deep understanding of market trends, product categories, and customer behavior.
  • Strong negotiation skills, financial acumen, strategic thinking, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to make decisions that balance customer demand and profitability.

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in an open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.
  • Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
  • Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.
  • Hotel, airplane, and car travel may be required.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time position. As a national retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume. The role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
