Business Development Manager - Industrial & Specialty Construction
Tectra Construction, Inc | Anaheim, CA | Full time
About TectraTectra Construction is a service-disabled veteran-owned (SDVOSB) general contractor based in Anaheim, California. We build industrial and distribution facilities, cold storage and mission-critical projects, tenant improvements, and design-build work across Southern California, with a growing data center construction practice. We also deliver fee-based lead project management and owner's representative services for clients who need our team without needing our contract. We are founder-led, lean, and built on six values:
Integrity First, Own the Outcome, Simplicity Wins, Solution Oriented, Clear Communication, Long-Term Relationships.
This is Tectra's first dedicated business development seat, reporting directly to the CEO. It is not a lead-generation role. You are part of the strategy behind every deal we chase, you are in the room through closing the sale, and you stay with the client relationship through delivery.
You will sell two things. The first is Southern California industrial and specialty construction: distribution, cold storage, food and beverage, mission critical, and advanced manufacturing. The second is our fee-based services line, lead project management, owner's representative, and program management engagements. Different buyers, different rooms, and we need someone who can work both.
The expectation is simple: a real pipeline moving in your first 90 days and the first engagement signed within 4 months.
What You Will Own- Build and run the SoCal pipeline across both construction and fee-based services: identify targets, qualify them, and pursue the right ones
- Hunt lead PM, owner's rep, and program management engagements. These are sold to development and asset management teams, not to procurement, and they are a priority for us
- Shape pursuit strategy with the CEO: which deals we chase, how we position, and how we win them
- Own relationships with industrial developers, owners, brokers, architects, and owners' reps
- Carry pursuits from first contact through proposal, interview, and signed contract
- Stay engaged after the win, through delivery. The next job comes from how this one goes
- Get inside our estimating. You may not price work on day one, but you will get there, because the person who sells the job needs to understand the numbers in it
- Run the pipeline in Pipedrive, keep it current, and report it weekly
- Represent Tectra at NAIOP, SIOR, and industry events across So Cal
- 5+ years winning industrial or specialty construction work in Southern California. GC business development, preconstruction, or estimating backgrounds all work
- Experience selling fee-based or negotiated services, owner's rep, program management, or lead PM, is a significant advantage
- Knows the SoCal industrial market: the developers, the broker teams, and where negotiated and design-build work actually comes from
- A real network that answers when you call
- A hunter who can also close. Comfortable owning pursuits from $1M to $50M+
- Enough command of GC cost structure to talk numbers credibly with owners, and to know the difference between a 10 percent job and a 20 percent one
- High standards, low ego, direct communicator
Tectra Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
