Overview

Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties (PPOSBC) has a non-paid part-time opportunity for a Safety & Security Intern in Anaheim, CA.

The Safety & Security Intern supports the Security Department in administrative and operational security and safety functions including investigations, training, infrastructure support, technical operations, special investigations, safety and event planning.

Planned Parenthood is looking for individuals who are self-motivated and can work well independently as well as with others. This is an opportunity to get exposure to enterprise physical and technical security operations, electronic security systems design and administration, enterprise corporate security operations, risk mitigation strategies, policies and procedures, protection principles, legal aspects of safety and security, emergency planning and crisis management.

The candidate will have an opportunity to work with the proprietary security management team on matters involving law enforcement agencies during escalations including vulnerability assessments and assist with contract security operations. Administrative responsibilities include support for the security infrastructure including surveillance networks, alarm systems, access management, and all other security-related requests and concerns. The candidate will assist the security team with developing and delivering training, crisis management, and emergency response.

Minimum Education
  • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student in the field of Security Management, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management, Criminology, Law, Cyber Security or other related fields (e.g. Loss Prevention, Political Science, Sociology, etc.). Engineering or a technical background is strongly preferred.
Language Requirements/Preference
  • Required:

    English.

  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail, strong professionalism, and an ability to work in a team environment are required.
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Minimum of 1 semester/quarter time commitment.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Must demonstrate high level computer skills including;
    Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Electronic medical records experience may also be required.
  • This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
  • Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations and by all PPOSBC employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees.
Responsibilities Essential Functions
  • Assist Security team with gathering, organizing data and managing case files.
  • Assist with administration of technical operational enterprise security systems.
  • Provide support for special event security in coordination with other departments.
  • Organize and maintain emergency documentation, as directed.
  • Help coordinate training, events, drills, and assessments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
