Position Description
- The job of Electrical Foreman was established for the purposes of coordinating Electrical installation and related activities; supervising assigned trades people; implementing electrical services within established guidelines and standards; and performing skilled Electrical tasks as needed.
- Duties and responsibilities
- Assess, plan and schedule equipment, materials and labor needed to complete large and/or complex electrical tasks for the purpose of ensuring that electrical activities meet standards and resolve defined issues while reducing wasted resources.
- Assists in the personnel management of employees (e.g. Transfers, supervising, disciplining, training, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining staffing needs and productivity of the project.
- Assists in the training and in-service programs for electrical staff for the purpose of conveying information; and ensuring that electrical employees gain and maintain a thorough understanding of safety regulations follow and enforce all company policies/procedures.
- Collaborates with others (e.g. administrators, personnel, inspectors, customers, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of installing, implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
- Coordinates the services and activities of outside contractors as assigned for the purpose of ensuring that contracted work is completed in a safe, effective and timely manner that it meets company standards and objectives.
- Directs assigned electrical staff in resolving complex and/or difficult electrical issues (e.g. electrical distribution systems, emergency generators, fire/security alarms, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that installation is done safely and correctly.
- Maintains a variety of manual and electronics files and/or records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
- Maintains assigned company tools, equipment and vehicle(s) for the purpose of ensuring their availability as needed to meet assigned electrical objectives.
- Performs a wide variety of skilled (and sometimes complex) electrical activities (e.g. electrical system, emergency generators, fire/security alarms, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that electrical issues are resolved and projects are completed in a safe, effective and timely manner.
Qualifications
- Skills, Knowledge and Abilities to oversee, plan, schedule and perform electrical installation, per plans and specifications and electrical codes.
- Electrical Skills are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skilled-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintaining equipment and tools related to repair and electrical of electrical systems, emergency generators, fire/security; analyzing data; guiding others; handling hazardous materials; managing staff/performance; planning;
and problem solving. - KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve partial problems. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include; electrical system electrical and repair; codes/law/rules/regulations/policies; current and emerging electrical system installations and electrical; and safety practices.
- ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment.
Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently required independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; setting priorities; building collaborative relationships; decision making; mechanical aptitude; meeting schedules/deadlines;
working with frequent interruptions and complying with, OSHA/CALOSHA, all safety requirements.

- The usual and customary methods of preforming the job's functions require the following physical demands:
