Facility Engineer

This position requires the ability to complete assigned work orders in a timely manner. Work orders will vary from repairs to preventative maintenance. This employee will demonstrate behaviors consistent with our core values and support the strategic plan, including patient rights, confidentiality, environment of care, and regional care initiatives.

• Provides a safe and sanitary environment for patients, family, staff, and self.
• Performs basic plumbing, electrical repair, steam fitting and general maintenance.
• Services equipment by lubricating, cleaning, replacing parts, and making minor adjustments.
• Performs building maintenance requiring basic carpentry, electrical, painting, plastering or HVAC.
• Operates, maintains and assists in repairing boilers, refrigeration units, air conditioning units, ice machines, electronic and pneumatic controls.
• Understands and operates all central plant equipment, including boilers, chillers, pumps and compressors.
• Performs electrical installation and maintenance.
• Understands the operation of electrical motors, controllers and related equipment.
• Is able to wire up and install standard 110 and 220 volt outlets.
• Understands refrigeration and chilled water systems.
• Test runs emergency generators and understands operation of transfer switch.
• Performs plumbing installation and maintenance.
• Installs and maintains hospital equipment (i.e., bulletin boards, file holders, pictures).
• Performs preventive maintenance of all equipment as assigned.
• Patched penetrations in walls, fire walls and painted as needed.

• Must have a minimum of two years' experience in construction, carpentry, plumbing, painting, or HVAC.
• Must have demonstrated experience, proficiency, and expertise in one or more of the above areas.
• Working knowledge in various mechanical hand‑held tools required in the performance of the trade.
• Working knowledge of power equipment, drills, saws, pneumatic tools, compressor, airless sprays.
• Working knowledge of pumps and pumping system.
• Working knowledge of scaffolding and ladders.
• Working knowledge of trucks and forklifts.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and communicate effectively.
• Previous experience within the healthcare industry preferred.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Ability to interact effectively with patients, customers and associates in a way that exhibits superior integrated customer service and teamwork.
• Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy while directing co‑workers.
• Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks effectively and efficiently.

• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
