Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Pipelayer to join our team specializing in wet utilities pipeline construction. The ideal candidate will have experience installing underground pipelines for water, sewer, and storm drain systems in commercial and municipal projects. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork. As a Pipelayer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the proper installation and alignment of utility systems that serve communities and infrastructure.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lay and align pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
  • Grade trenches and culverts using hand tools and levels.
  • Cut pipes to required lengths and bevel pipe ends for welding or sealing.
  • Connect pipe pieces and seal joints using welding equipment, cement, or glue.
  • Install manholes, catch basins, and other related structures.
  • Excavate, dig, and backfill trenches using hand tools and/or equipment as needed.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and work cooperatively with all other crew members.
  • Ensure work is performed to meet or exceed quality standards and accurate installation, including proper pipe alignment, bedding, and compaction.
  • Inspect materials and completed work for accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and hazard assessments.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and consistently.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in pipe laying or underground utility installation, underground wet utility construction preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Prior knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment used in pipeline installation required.
  • Knowledge of construction math skills, including how to convert quantities, take measurements, and solve basic equations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with wet utility systems (water, sewer, storm drain).
  • Strong understanding of trench safety and OSHA regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to operate and work around heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Physically demanding tasks that include walking, kneeling, twisting, crawling, crouching, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • May require early morning, evening, or weekend work depending on project needs.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Be physically qualified for lifting and moving heavy items, agile and capable of walking over rough, uneven terrain etc.

The hourly base rate for this position is between $35.39 to $51.85 per hour.
