Office, Store & Fisherman Accounting AssistantThe Office, Store & Fisherman Accounting Assistant performs a variety of administrative, retail, and fisherman accounting support duties. This position works out of the Red Salmon Cannery office while supporting office operations at both Red Salmon Cannery and Pederson Point, including fisherman accounting. This position is also responsible for running the employee store at Red Salmon Cannery during designated hours.
This is a seasonal position working approximately mid‑May to August 5th. Due to the seasonal nature of our industry, the Office, Store & Fisherman Accounting Assistant works approximately 12 hours per day, seven days per week during peak production seasons approximately. This position is hourly and reports to the Plant Manager and Office Manager.
There is a potential opportunity for extended employment in August and September at our corporate office in Edmonds, Washington, assisting with final fisherman settlements. Continued employment beyond August depends upon business needs.

Administrative & Office Support- Assist guess and fishermen as needed, answering questions and providing support.
- Assist with filing a variety of paperwork, including invoices, sales slips, and other documents as needed.
- Pick up mail at the local USPS office (valid driver’s license required).
- Sort and organize incoming mail.
- Run errands using company-owned vehicles.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Assist with onboarding fisherman paperwork at the start of the season.
- Assist the Fish Ticket Clerk with uploading and filing fish tickets throughout the season.
- Assist with pre‑settlement preparation, including helping reconcile fisherman accounts.
- Enter fisherman sales slips into our accounting software.
- Provide support with final fisherman settlements, including assistance at the Edmonds office as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Open and close the employee store.
- Assist employees with purchases.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to track purchases and returns.
- Reconcile the cash drawer.
- Maintain and inventory store items at the beginning and end of the season.
- Maintain a clean and orderly appearance in the store.
- Other duties as assigned.
Office staff are assigned to 12‑hour shifts, seven days a week, but may work additional hours at peak times.
Employees live on site in communal bunkhouses with shared facilities.
In Alaska, employees are paid overtime after eight regular hours in a day, and after 40 regular hours in a week. With no onsite expenses this is often a great way to make money in a relatively short period of time. NPSI recognizes several holidays during the year. Hourly employees are paid at their overtime rate for all hours worked on the holiday.
In the summer, July 4th is a recognized holiday.

- Ability to maintain professional composure in high stress work environment.
- Willingness to work in an office setting in a seafood processing plant.
- Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Valid driver license to be able to drive the company van.
NPSI provides transportation from your closest international airport USA to the worksite and back, as well as room and board, for those employees who work until they are laid off. Employees who leave before the season ends may be responsible for their own transportation, and they will be charged $15 per day for room and board.
