Role OverviewReporting to the Supervisor, Accounting, the Accounting Assistant I is accountable for the day‑to‑day accounting functions necessary to run the Accounts Payable function for the Red Dog Operations.
Responsibilities- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Process accounts payable invoices with proper approvals and documentation, including coding, data entry, and discrepancy research.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the Finance department, including answering phones, filing, greeting visitors, and receptionist duties.
- Prioritize invoices based on cash discount potential and payment terms.
- Update vendor mailing address and tax information in GenCID as required.
- Respond to all vendor inquiries.
- Reconcile vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies.
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practice.
- Research and provide documentation for requested accounts payable inquiries.
- Back up payment processing.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- One year of general office, clerical, or accounting experience.
- Post‑secondary education from an accredited college including at least 3 semesters of accounting substitutes for experience.
- Good communication, interpersonal, motivational, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency – Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Proficient writing skills; highly organized and able to work with minimal guidance.
- Task‑oriented, self‑motivated, able to multi‑task, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work as a team player.
- Strong attention to detail and follow‑through skills; predictable independent work reliability.
- Ability to adhere to confidentiality standards.
- Observance of personal hygiene and appearance meeting generally accepted business standards.
- Language skills to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, memos; write simple correspondence and present information to individuals or small groups.
- Schedule:
Monday to Friday, on‑site in Anchorage. - Culture:
