The incumbent of this position will perform paraprofessional‑level accounting work, requiring technical knowledge of standard accounting procedures and practices for analyzing and interpreting accounts and accounting documents.

This position requires in‑person training and office presence.
Located in the Atwood building in downtown Anchorage, the division has 196 employees.
Who We Are Looking For- Accounting: Knowledge of traditional accounting practices including accrual, obligations, and cost methods.
- Accounting Operations: Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures for conducting financial and compliance, economy and efficiency, and program audits.
- Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base.
- Oral Communication: Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others and responds appropriately.
- Teaching Others: Helps others learn through formal or informal methods; identifies training needs; provides constructive feedback; coaches others on how to perform tasks; acts as a mentor.
Minimum of one year of clerical work experience maintaining records that includes using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
Substitutions:
Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping substitutes for the required experience. Post‑secondary education from an accredited college substitutes for the required experience (three semester or four quarter hours equal one month).
Post‑secondary education in accounting or a related field is required. Copies of transcripts will be required at the time of interview. The position may accept equivalent foreign education provided it is evaluated by a recognized credentialing organization.
