  • Reports to: Communications Manager
Job Overview

The Communications Specialist develops and implements innovative strategic communications to key internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative environment. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with the ability to multitask and adapt to varying demands. To ensure success, the Communications Specialist is innovative and organized with a passion for effective communication and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement marketing and communication strategy to support company objectives.
  • Write and edit content for various communication channels, including newsletters, social media, and other company publications.
  • Develop, schedule, and deploy email campaigns to internal and external audiences.
  • Manage the company's social media presence by developing strategic content, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance to strengthen brand visibility and communication impact.
  • Coordinate the sourcing, ordering, and inventory management of branded merchandise through approved vendors to support events, campaigns, and organizational needs.
  • Handle administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings, maintaining communication databases, and organizing files for efficient workflow.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends and best practices in communication to suggest innovative ideas and improvements for the team.
  • Participate in collaborative reviews of communication materials supporting major milestones.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in a communication role, preferably in a corporate or agency environment.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms and content management systems.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Mail Chimp, and a platform such as Adobe Express or Canva.
  • Additional preferred experience with MS Teams, SharePoint, and web development.
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
  • Experience in Alaska Native Corporations and government contracting preferred.
Work Environment

This position will primarily work in an office setting. The office environment is professional, collaborative, and conducive to focused work. The typical office amenities and equipment, including computers, phones, and other necessary tools, will be provided. This position may require minimal travel.

Physical Demands

SEDENTARY WORK:
The position involves predominantly sedentary work. Most tasks will be performed while sitting at a desk or a computer workstation. SCREEN TIME:
Extensive use of computer screens and keyboards is required. LIFTING & CARRYING:
Minimal physical effort is required. Occasionally, the employee may need to lift or carry light office supplies or materials weighing up to 50 pounds. MOBILITY:
The employee will need to move around the office to attend meetings, access shared resources, and collaborate with team members.
