Position: OFFICE ASSOCIATE - Range 10 / AMEA

Position Overview

Position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative tasks associated with the Fleet Services Division. Tasks include but are not limited to public interaction, database upkeep, research and analysis of issues associated with fleet functions, file upkeep, payroll assistance, commercial fueling system administration, wash system administration, purchasing and payment functions, vehicle licensing, accident tracking, and library maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and two years of experience in office clerical work.
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Information Systems or similar discipline and experience in office clerical work.
  • Valid State of Alaska Driver's License and satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory background check including criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Ability to type at a net speed of 35 WPM.
Additional Conditions
  • Remote work schedule opportunities may be considered after successful completion of probation.
  • All required certifications and licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.
  • If selected for hire, appointment will be conditional upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted background check.
  • If selected for hire, appointment will be conditional upon the submission of a current copy of the Alaska Driver's License and driving record.
  • If selected for hire, appointment will be conditional upon the submission of current documentation of typing speed.

Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA candidates.

Veterans Preference

Veterans who wish to be considered for interview preference must attach documentation such as DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs recognizing the person as a veteran. The documentation must show an honorable or general discharge. The minimum qualifications of the position must be met for preference consideration.
