Job Description

This supervisory position oversees the daily operations of the division, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with court policies and procedures. Responsibilities include hiring, training, evaluating, and supporting staff; assigning and prioritizing work; developing performance standards; and coordinating employee training and cross-training programs.

The incumbent serves as a resource for court personnel, judicial officers, attorneys, partner agencies, and the public by responding to inquiries and facilitating effective communication. Additional duties include preparing audit reports, monitoring workflow, participating in stakeholder meetings, and maintaining court schedules and records within the Court View case management system.

This position also performs case management and customer service functions as needed, including processing filings, opening cases, fulfilling records requests, and providing backup coverage for other clerk positions to ensure continuous court operations.

Work Schedule:

The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND two years of legal office clerical work experience.

OR

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND four years of office clerical work experience.

OR

A bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college.

Substitution:
Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.

Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical work experience on a month-for-month basis.

Note:

Legal office clerical work experience includes service such as a Court Case Manager 1, Court Case Manager 2, Courtroom Judicial Assistant, or Administrative Assistant 1 with the Alaska Court System, or work in a public or private sector law office requiring the review and processing of legal documents.
