Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Alaska Small Business Development Center (Alaska SBDC) is hiring a Client Coordinator who enjoys helping people, solving problems, staying organized, and keeping things moving in a busy office environment. This highly visible position serves as a primary point of contact for entrepreneurs and small business owners reaching out to the Alaska SBDC and is an important part of our statewide team.

The Alaska SBDC provides no-cost business advising, workshops, tools, and resources to entrepreneurs and small business owners throughout Alaska. As the SBDC Client Coordinator, you will help connect individuals with the right SBDC services and resources by responding to phone and email inquiries, supporting the statewide client intake and registration process, maintaining client records, and directing requests to the appropriate staff or program.

You will also provide administrative and office support and assist with workshops, meetings, special projects, and other SBDC activities. This is a fast-paced position with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Much of the day involves balancing incoming requests with ongoing administrative work, so being able to stay organized, shift priorities, and follow through is an important part of the role.

You will be successful in this position if you are approachable, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and follow-through. Strong customer service, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills are important, along with comfort using email, shared files, calendars, databases, and other office technology. Experience providing administrative or customer service support in a professional environment and working with the public will be valuable.

Experience with office technology, cloud-based systems, client relationship management systems, or similar databases is helpful. Experience with small businesses, economic development, higher education, government, nonprofit, or other public-service organizations is beneficial but not required. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who takes initiative, works well with others, and is comfortable figuring out the next step when the answer is not immediately obvious.

Minimum Qualifications

Some college coursework and one year experience related to program specialty, or an equivalent combination of training and experience; OR three years of progressively responsible office/administrative experience.
