The Service Advisor is the critical link between customers and service technicians in a dealership or repair shop. You'll act as a customer service expert, technical communicator, and advisor, ensuring a smooth and positive experience throughout the vehicle service process.

Responsibilities:

• Greet guests, assess needs, and set clear expectations on cost and timeline
• Communicate repair recommendations in plain language -- no jargon
• Write accurate, detailed repair orders that technicians can act on immediately
• Liaise with technicians to keep work moving and hold the line on promised completion times
• Provide proactive updates throughout the service visit
• Review completed repairs and charges with the guest before vehicle return
• Follow up post-visit to confirm satisfaction
• Schedule appointments to match technician capacity and guest needs
• Research parts availability and pricing to deliver reliable estimates
• Apply working knowledge of automotive systems to support diagnosis conversations
• Stay current on GM brand service procedures and emerging technologies
• Process payments and maintain accurate vehicle service records
• Uphold safety protocols and service department policies

Qualifications:

• Demonstrates a high "HQ" (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
• Strong understanding of automotive terminology and mechanical principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical details clearly and concisely.
• Customer service focuses on building trust and rapport.
• Ability to actively listen, identify customer needs, and address concerns effectively.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficient in computer skills and dealership management software (DMS).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A valid driver's license may be required.
