Construction Superintendent - Alaska
Our company is seeking a full‑time federal/Commercial construction superintendent for Alaska projects. The role requires experience working on projects in remote locations and proficiency in Federal Market Construction. The superintendent will be part of a project team managing the execution of work performed by subcontractors and our team members.
The position requires knowledge at every stage of the construction process and the ability to supervise multiple subcontractors. More than ten (10+) years of construction experience is desired, with at least five (5+) years on projects $3 million or greater. Candidates with experience in remote work for Native Tribal Villages, National Park Service, US Navy, Air Force, and/or US Army Corps construction are preferred.
Responsibilities- Coordinate, plan, and supervise subcontractors and/or craft activities ensuring adherence to plans and specifications; enforce site safety and provide contractor quality control.
- Provide daily on‑site supervision of subcontractors.
- Monitor contractor production, schedule, and performance.
- Have hands‑on knowledge to support self‑performed work (metal and wood framing, doors and hardware, trim and other miscellaneous architectural scopes).
- Manage subcontractor daily production reports.
- Assist with coordination aspects as directed by the Project Manager.
- Comply with all guidelines, policies, and procedures established by the company while onsite.
- Initiate problem solving and perform repairs on any required work‑related equipment in a timely manner.
- Conduct safety audits and assist with contractor quality control and safety at construction locations.
- Assist subcontractors with federal procedures and rules.
- Ensure contractors complete work on schedule while fulfilling warranty issues.
- Work with and maintain relationships with end users.
- Communicate daily status of current projects to the Project Manager to ensure all projects are timely and meet company standards.
- Maintain 100% compliance readiness in all mandatory/regulatory areas.
- Maintain 100% safety standards and accountability, including taking necessary action for unsafe behaviors, reporting and addressing safety concerns, and documenting injury or near‑miss incidents.
- Maintain proficiency in all work‑related equipment, policies, procedures, and tactics, performing daily/weekly on‑site customer interface.
- OSHA 30 Certified
- CPR First Aid training and certification
- Competent person in construction safety
- Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to climb ladders and access rooftops.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and lead labor trades, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Must be dependable and able to work independently.
- Must treat all employees, clients, subcontractors, and vendors with dignity and respect.
US Citizenship required. Ability to gain security access and pass a drug test required. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Annual salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
