Estimator – Anchorage, AK
Central Environmental, Inc. (CEI) is a full‑service construction and environmental remediation provider. This position supports project estimating and related project management tasks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Attend pre‑bid job walks.
- Review project documents, specifications, and plans to understand project requirements.
- Prepare project estimates, issue RFIs during the bid process, and submit bids.
- Assist with project management tasks, including preparing construction schedules and generating work plans.
- Provide own transportation and travel to site visits as needed.
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: 5 years in construction estimating.
- Knowledge of organizational procedures and workflows.
- Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, communication platforms, industry‑standard software).
- Knowledge of customer service practices and data privacy/confidentiality principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Time management, prioritization, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Interpersonal and teamwork skills; attention to detail.
- Construction Management experience – 3 years.
- Primavera P6 Software – 1 year.
- Microsoft Excel – 5 years.
- Microsoft Project – 5 years.
- Heavy Bid Software – 1 year.
- Driver's License – Preferred.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
DOT Covered / Safety‑Sensitive Role RequirementsThis position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety‑sensitive” functions.
Physical Requirements- Walk, navigate uneven construction sites.
- Stand, sit, and move for extended periods.
- Occasional climbing of stairs or ladders for site inspections.
- Lift or carry up to 20-30 lbs (plans, tools, equipment).
- Visual acuity to read blueprints, documents, and digital screens.
- Manual dexterity for computer work and basic measuring tools.
- Effective communication in noisy environments.
- Work in outdoor and construction site conditions with PPE.
- Travel to job sites and meetings as required.
- Split between office settings and active construction sites.
- Frequent use of computers, estimating software, and technical documents.
- Regular site visits with exposure to weather, noise, dust, and hazards (PPE required).
- Interaction with project teams, clients, and contractors.
- Local travel and occasional extended work hours to meet deadlines.
A pre‑employment drug screening and background check are required. For applicable contracts, clearance levels and access to military installations may be required.
