PROJECT ENGINEER – Build the Skills That Build Great Projects

More than a job. A launchpad for a construction leadership career.

At Cornerstone, we don’t just build commercial projects; we build careers, teams, and long-term success. Since 1993, we’ve grown as a 100% Alaskan‑owned company by focusing on cooperation, accountability, and doing things the right way.

We’re looking for a Project Engineer who wants more than managing paperwork; someone who wants to gain hands‑on experience, learn from experienced construction professionals, and play a critical role in delivering successful projects across Alaska.

This role is ideal for someone who is motivated to grow, enjoys solving problems, and wants to develop the technical, operational, and leadership skills necessary for a long‑term career in construction management.

Why Project Engineering (Why This Role Matters)

Project Engineers are at the center of project execution.

You’ll gain exposure to every stage of the construction process—from preconstruction planning and procurement to field operations and project closeout. You'll work alongside Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, clients, and design teams while learning how successful projects are delivered.

For those who want to become Project Managers, Operations Leaders, or Construction Executives, Project Engineering provides one of the strongest foundations in the industry.

What You’ll Do (The Impact You’ll Have)

This role serves as a critical link between the office, field, and client, helping ensure projects stay organized, informed, and moving forward.

Project Coordination & Execution
  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents in the successful execution of commercial construction projects
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, procurement, and documentation activities
  • Help coordinate project communications between clients, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and project teams
  • Participate in project meetings, planning sessions, and progress reviews
  • Assist with project closeout activities and turnover documentation
  • Assist with tracking change orders, material procurement, and project costs
  • Support invoice review and project cost management efforts
  • Help monitor project budgets, labor costs, and schedule performance
  • Assist with maintaining project records and reporting requirements
  • Support internal controls designed to reduce financial, legal, safety, and operational risk
Field Leadership & Client Support
  • Serve as a professional representative of Cornerstone both in the office and on project sites
  • Help maintain strong relationships with clients, design partners, subcontractors, and field personnel
  • Assist in identifying project challenges and developing practical solutions
  • Support quality control efforts and help ensure issues are addressed promptly
  • Contribute to a culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and customer satisfaction

This is more than project administration; it’s an opportunity to learn how successful projects are built while developing the skills needed to become a future construction leader.
