Dynamic Mid-Size Commercial General Contractor, a well-established, hands‑on firm seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to join the leadership team. If you have the technical expertise, proven business acumen, and drive to help grow a multi‑million‑dollar company, this is your opportunity to make a significant impact.
Key Responsibilities- Select projects to bid, perform material take‑offs, solicit subcontractor and material pricing, and estimate project costs.
- Create a project schedule to coincide with the RFP timelines.
- Summarize collected pricing into a proposal summary.
- Write qualification narratives as requested by Request for Proposals (“RFP”).
- Collect said sub and material numbers on bid day and enter lowest qualified numbers into the estimate.
- Collaborate with estimating team to finalize general conditions and overhead and profit mark‑ups for final proposal submission.
- Upon a successful bid proposal, perform project buy‑out of subs and materials. Write purchase orders and subcontracts. Provide overall project management to include: scheduling, owner meetings, submittal process, project cost coding coordination with project superintendent, approval of subcontractor pay applications, submitting progress pay applications to owner, on‑going project cost analysis and cost control, project schedule and project close‑out duties.
- Other tasks as assigned by Employer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering or Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field (required).
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in commercial general contracting, with significant hands‑on expertise in both estimating and project management.
- Proven ability to win profitable work and manage projects profitably.
- Strong computer skills: proficiency in Excel and Word, Bluebeam, Buildertrend (or similar), estimating software, and scheduling tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Competitive base salary (commensurate with 10‑15+ years of experience) plus performance bonuses.
