CAD Technician

Job Description Summary

Working under general supervision,theCAD Technician is responsible for the maintenance andaccuracyofCADand CAD related documents, the Engineering

Document Management (EDM) systemand other repositories.

Thispositionprovides CAD support for all departments.

• Reports to:
  
  Manager, CAD/GIS Services
• Trains:
  Users and maintainers of the CAD system

• Manager,CAD/GISServices:
  Reportsto,seeksdirectionfrom,provides assistance and feedback to, and exchanges information with.
• CAD/GISpersonnel:
  
  Receives direction from,works and exchanges information with, provides assistance and feedback to.
• All other personnel:
  
  Provides information and assistance to,worksandexchanges information with,provides assistanceandfeedback to.

• Consultants:
  
  With concurrence from the Department Manager, provides assistance to, exchanges information with, andsends/receives work requests to/from representatives from external firms.
• Other utilities and agencies:
  
  With concurrence from the Department Manager,provide assistance to and exchanges information with.
• Plotter and Software
  
  Vendors:
  
  Correspondswithto resolveproblemsandgain assistance.

A high school diplomaor equivalent plus completion of twenty (20) total college semester credit hours in CAD, GIS/geomatics, remote sensing, photogrammetry, computer science, natural science,surveying technology, engineering, urban planning, cartography, geography, or related field are required. Minimumofnine (9) credit hours is required in CAD.Degree or CAD Certification preferred.

Four (4) yearsofworkexperiencewhereCADisamajorresponsibilityisrequired.

Additional work experience whereCADisamajorresponsibilityabovethe required four(4) years may be substituted forthe required education; likewise, additional education in CADmay be substituted for up to two (2) years required work experience.

For these purposes, one (1) year of experience is equivalent to six (6) college semester credit hours of education.

• Musthavetheabilityto proficientlyandindependently operateCADsoftware packages to perform the representative duties.
• Must havetheabilitytolearn ordo basicGISediting.
  
  SomeGISexperience or education preferred.
• Mustbedetailandaccuracyoriented.
• Musthavestrongmathematicalskills.
• Shouldhavean understandingofelectrical/civildraftingdisciplines,drawing standards, associated symbology,electric utility engineering and design concepts.
• AbilitytotranslatephysicalfieldplantworkdocumentationtoupdateCADdataanddisplays.
• Knowledge ofandabilitytofollowQA/QC procedures.
• Knowledge of
  
  AutoLISPand/ormacrolanguagesrelatedtoCADisdesired.
• Abilitytoimportandexportdatatovariousformats.
• Abilitytounderstandlandbasedcoordinatesystems.
• Mustexhibitexcellent Englishverbalandwrittencommunication skills.
  
  Skilled inwriting instructions, documentation and reports.
• Perform scanner/plotter/printeroperationandmaintenance.
• Abilitytoworkinateam environment.
• Mustbeabletoworkwith Microsoft Office  products.

Work will be performed inastandard officeenvironmentwith regularly scheduled working hours.

May require liftingofup to30pounds on occasion.

Occasional travel maybe required.

Overtime may be required.
