The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting

for an Education Associate 3 (HIT Program Outreach & Education Coordinator) located in Anchorage, Alaska!

What you will be doing:

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game's Hunter Information & Training (HIT) Program seeks a dynamic and experienced educator to design, deliver, and coordinate public outreach and education programs.

Duties include:

* Coordinating the Alaska Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) Program.

* Managing the Alaska National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).

* Directing the Outdoor Youth Days Camp.

* Directing public outreach and education efforts for the HIT Program designed to recruit, retain, and reactivate hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts.

* Advertising HIT Program education programs and public outreach events.

The Education Associate 3 is part of the HIT Program's statewide team of eight staff and over 500 volunteer instructors engaged in educating the public and recruiting new hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts. As part of this team, the position will work with an array of dedicated volunteer instructors, school administrators and teachers, and the general public (all ages) to promote safe and enjoyable hunting and shooting experiences.

The working conditions you can expect:

The Education Associate 3 position is based in the Anchorage ADF&G regional office and will also spend a fair amount of time at the Rabbit Creek Shooting Park. This position will also travel to schools around the state to train school staff in offering the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP).

Who we are looking for:

We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:

* Ability to envision, design, develop, implement and manage education and outreach programs for a variety of audiences.

* Strong understanding of firearms and ammunition, firearms safety, and hunting practices and culture.

* Good planning and organizational skills are required, as well as strong public speaking and writing skills.

* Ability to multi-task effectively and coordinate multiple program components and support activities.

* Ability to work irregular schedules including some weekends, evenings, and overnight stays.

Note:

A valid driver's license is required.

Must be able to legally carry and effectively use firearms.

First Aid/CPR. For those not already certified, training will be provided by the department at no cost to the employee.

Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs

Specialized training required (provided by ADF&G): NRA Range Safety Officer certification, ADF&G Youth Shotgun Coach training, Hunter education certification, NASP Basic Archery Instructor and Basic Archery Instructor Trainer
