The College of Health (COH), one of seven UAA schools and colleges, is a major center for development and delivery of professional, career and technical, community, and continuing education programs. The Division of Population Health Sciences within the College of Health offers Health Sciences courses for the Occupational Endorsement Certificate in Gerontology, the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, the Graduate Certificate in Public Health, and the Master of Public Health degree. Adjunct faculty position for the Division of Population Health Sciences (DPHS).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of accepted instructional methods.
* Experience using a variety of teaching styles.
* Experience providing feedback and formal evaluation.
* Experience teaching participants with various abilities, experience levels, and cultural backgrounds.
* Strong presentation and speaking skills.
* Customer service skills.
Candidates will be evaluated on a) the suitability of their academic preparation, b) past teaching experience, c) expertise and/or experience relevant to the effective teaching of their specific field and d) the potential for providing high quality instruction to a diverse undergraduate and/or graduate student population. Must possess interpersonal skills to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, administration, and the general public.
Preference will be given to Alaskan residents or those residing in Alaska during the semester in which they intend to teach.
Distance delivery may play an important part of the UAA Program; the applicant must have the ability to provide classroom instruction in courses pertinent to health promotion, health science, and public health fields in traditional and/or distance-delivery environments. Experience in web-based course delivery, technology use in the classroom, as well as didactic classroom instruction is preferred.
At least one year of college instruction, preferably within the discipline of instruction, is strongly preferred, but applicants with no formal college-level teaching experience will be considered.
Proof of these prerequisites may be offered by way of previous employment, personal experience, certifications, demonstration, or any combination.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE &
EDUCATION:
1 year of prior teaching and/or training experience in the discipline.
Significant experience in the health-related field.

Bachelor's degree or higher in field related to the position for undergraduate course work.
Master's degree or higher in field related to the position for graduate course work.

New hires will be placed UNAD Adjunct salary table.
