Overview

The UAA Department of Journalism and Public Communications has an immediate need for an adjunct instructor to deliver a course in Web Design asynchronously online. Web Design is an upper-division course in the Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Public Communications and a course within the Occupational Endorsement Certificate in Graphic Design. Interested candidates in other disciplines, such as photojournalism or news/documentary video courses, are welcome to apply as needs vary from semester to semester.

The department in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) seeks applicants interested in teaching credit courses as Adjunct Faculty. Our mission is to help students explore the roles of free expression and communication in a global society, with dedicated faculty, challenging curricula, and multifaceted students that prepare them for professional careers and graduate studies.

Position Details

This is a pooled, part-time, adjunct represented temporary position located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, AK. New hires will be placed on the adjunct salary schedule as outlined in the UNAD CBA, based on education and experience. Applications are reviewed as needed; submission of an application does not guarantee review or a job offer. This is an at-will, union represented adjunct position and may be canceled based on the needs of the university.

The position is for Web Design delivery asynchronously online. The department may hire adjunct instructors for other disciplines as needs vary by semester.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    A master’s degree in journalism, communications or related field. Successful candidates will have relevant career experience and must provide official transcripts documenting academic credentials required for the position as a condition of employment.
  • Experience teaching college-level courses in Journalism and Public Communications or closely related fields is preferred.
  • Exceptions may be made for individuals whose experience and accomplishments compensate for the lack of the required education; such exceptions are reviewed and approved by the College of Arts and Sciences Dean.
