Adjunct Faculty - CTC Department of Writing

The Department of Writing at the University of Alaska, Anchorage offers courses leading to and including Tier 1 Writing Literacy General Education Requirements. This includes all 0‑, 100‑, and 200‑level Writing courses.

Adjunct positions are on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of an appointment. This is an adjunct labor pool and applicants are hired based on departmental need.

• Teach Writing courses at 0‑, 100‑, and 200‑levels to meet Tier 1 Literacy General Education Requirements.
• Use accepted instruction methods and develop lesson plans that promote effective oral and written communication skills.
• Support students through public speaking practice and writing workshops.
• Maintain regular communication with department and students.

• ✍️ Knowledge of accepted instruction methods.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Public speaking skills.
• Student support skills.
• 2 years relevant experience, preferably in adult education settings, with graduate level coursework in the teaching of writing.
• Master's degree in English, Composition & Rhetoric, Creative Writing, or TESOL.

This is a part‑time, adjunct instructor position. Minimum salaries are set by the United Academic - Adjunct, AAUP-AT/AFL-CIO collective bargaining agreement. Salaries may vary based upon education and experience. This is a pooled position and applications are reviewed as needed. Submission of an application does not guarantee review or a job offer.
