Overview
The Department of Communication, within the Community and Technical College at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), invites applications for a full-time Term Instructor of Communication beginning August 2026. UAA's Department of Communication serves a diverse student population across Alaska and beyond, including dual-enrolled high school students, first-generation college students, military personnel, returning adults, and English language learners. The department fosters inclusive, engaging learning environments that reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of the region.
The department offers a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, a minor in Communication, and four Oral Communication General Education Requirement (GER) courses that serve the university’s general education mission: COMM A111:
Fundamentals of Oral Communication, COMM A237:
Interpersonal Communication, COMM A241:
Small Group Communication, and COMM A243:
Public Speaking.
- Teach Communication courses at the post-secondary level with innovative, student-centered teaching practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues to achieve shared goals and support student learning.
- Master’s in Communication or related field;
PhD preferred. - Record of college service or demonstrated potential for service.
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus. It is a full-time, 9-month, term-funded, non-tenure track faculty position with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
