Program Overview
Our ANSEP Acceleration Academy is a dual enrollment program on the University of Alaska Anchorage's campus that supports 9th‑12th grade students aiming to earn college credits before graduating from high school. The Summer Acceleration Academy is a five‑week residential program that brings together high‑school students from across the state to earn college credits, participate in guided study sessions, and enjoy extracurricular activities.
Position:Summer Dorm Supervisor
ANSEP is seeking four Summer Dorm Supervisors to support our summer program which will begin in May 2026. The role plays a pivotal part in ensuring students have a positive residential life experience, creating a supportive community, and managing risk, student support, behavior management, and dorm logistics. Supervisors must reside in the dorm throughout the program and be on‑call during scheduled shifts.
A University meal plan is provided for the duration of the program.
- Supervise students and ensure a safe, respectful living environment.
- Provide community‑building experiences and foster a supportive culture.
- Respond promptly to incidents, accidents, and emergencies, serving as a first responder.
- Coordinate dorm logistics, including scheduling, meal service, and facility maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with Program Coordinators, Assistants, and the Program Manager to meet students’ residential needs.
- Some college coursework; associate’s degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of experience in a related program or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Experience working in a camp, student program, or residential setting.
- Preferred:
Experience working with rural and/or Indigenous Alaska populations. - Valid AK driver’s license with a minimum of three years of driving record (may require driving an ANSEP vehicle).
- Ability to lift or move 25–50 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodation).
- Working knowledge of risk‑management practices.
- Organized and detail‑oriented.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Skill in interpreting and applying policies.
- Strong teamwork, relationship‑building, and professional boundary‑setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Sound judgment and decision‑making.
- Strong conflict‑resolution and behavior‑management skills.
This full‑time, exempt (salary) temporary staff position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
