Adjunct Faculty - CTC Department of Writing

Position Overview

The Department of Writing at the University of Alaska, Anchorage offers courses leading to and including Tier 1 Writing Literacy General Education Requirements. This includes all 0-, 100- and 200-level Writing courses. Adjunct positions are on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Successful acceptance into the adjunct pool does not guarantee an offer of an appointment. This is an adjunct labor pool and applicants are hired based on departmental need.

• Knowledge of accepted instruction methods.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Public speaking skills.
• Student support skills.

• Master’s degree in English, Composition and Rhetoric, Creative Writing, or TESOL.
• Two years relevant experience, preferably in adult education settings, with graduate level coursework in the teaching of writing.

• Part‑time, adjunct instructor position on a semester‑by‑semester basis.
• Minimum salaries set by United Academic – Adjunct, AAUP‑AT/AFL‑CIO collective bargaining agreement. Salaries may vary based on education and experience.
• Works within the adjunct labor pool; appointments are made based on departmental need.
