Overview
The UAA Department of Psychology invites adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. The department offers programs aimed at advanced study in the social and health sciences and for preparing students for the behavioral health workforce. It is the largest center for the scientific study of behavior and mental processes in Alaska.

QualificationsApplicants must have an interest in teaching and the ability to teach in face‑to‑face and hybrid formats.
Lower‑division (100–200 level)- At least 30 graduate credits in psychology (PSY prefix).
- A master’s degree from an accredited institution or active enrollment in a Ph.D. program in clinical–community psychology.
- Relevant experience for the course (graduate coursework, training, or professional work).
- At least 30 graduate credits in psychology (PSY prefix).
- A doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.
D., or Ed.D.) from an accredited institution or a relevant master’s or doctoral degree plus advanced certification (BCBA or BCBA‑D) if teaching a behavior‑analysis course. - Relevant experience for the course.
- At least 30 graduate credits in psychology (PSY prefix).
- A doctoral degree (Ph.D., Psy.
D., or Ed.D.) in psychology or a closely related discipline, or a relevant master’s or doctoral degree plus advanced certification for behavior analysis. - Relevant experience for the course.
Applicants who do not meet one or more criteria may apply with a persuasive justification. Approval is granted by the Assistant Dean with committee recommendation.
Special Notes- To teach PSY A111 (General Psychology) applicants must have at least a master’s degree in psychology; a related discipline is not accepted.
This part‑time adjunct position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus. It is temporary and paid under the UNAD CBA, based on education and experience. The position is pooled; applications are reviewed as needed. Submission does not guarantee review or a job offer.
The successful applicant is required to complete a background check. This at‑will, union‑represented position may be canceled based on university needs. It is represented by United Academic – Adjuncts, AAUP‑AFT/ALF‑CIO.
