The Department of Accounting & Finance at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) invites applications for two tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Accounting positions, with an anticipated start date of Spring or Fall 2027.
Faculty will carry an initial three‑three course load. The department has critical needs in Taxation, Managerial/Cost, and Governmental/Non‑for‑Profit Accounting. Candidates must be prepared to teach in at least two of these areas and must also be capable of teaching core lower‑division courses in Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting. A successful candidate will teach courses in the BBA in Accounting program and may also contribute to graduate, associate‑level, or certificate programs in Accounting.
Minimum QualificationsPh.D. or DBA from an AACSB‑accredited institution, or equivalent, with an emphasis in Accounting or a closely related field. Candidates who are ABD may be considered if they provide evidence that degree completion will occur prior to the hire date. For candidates interested in teaching taxation, the terminal degree could be: (1) an LLM in taxation with a CPA license; or (2) a JD or LLB with a master’s degree in Accounting.
AACSB Post‑Doctoral Bridge Program graduates will be considered. Professional certification (CPA, CMA) and/or relevant work experience in accounting is desirable. Demonstrated ability or clear potential to teach at least two of the following areas of critical need:
Taxation, Managerial/Cost, and Governmental/Not‑for‑Profit Accounting.
- Cover letter outlining primary and secondary teaching areas and summarizing current and planned research.
- Teaching statement and evidence of teaching effectiveness (such as teaching evaluations) or evidence demonstrating potential for effective teaching.
- Comprehensive curriculum vita.
- Copies of graduate transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable at the time of application; official transcripts will be required upon hire).
- Contact information for three professional references, including names, telephone numbers, and email addresses.

Position DetailsPosition is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. Applicants must be able to relocate to Anchorage, Alaska by the position start date. This is a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track faculty position complete with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
