Pacific Northern Academy is a private school located in South Anchorage. We are a Preschool – 8th grade school with around 140 students. We’re a supportive team that works closely together to provide an outstanding school experience, and our teachers play a vital role in supporting the school’s success. We work together as a team to ensure all students’ safety and social-emotional and academic development.
Responsibilities- Implement PNA’s developmentally appropriate curriculum
- Assisting the specialist teachers as needed (Spanish, Art, Music, PE)
- Supporting the social and emotional development of the children
- Helping children build independence with social interactions and academic tasks
- Manage classroom activities and create a supportive learning environment
- Collaborate with colleagues on lesson planning and student progress
- Monitoring the safety and well-being of students
- Maintaining positive and professional relationships with families and staff
- Attending all mandatory staff meetings and training
- Display a high level of integrity, responsibility, and reliability
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, elementary education, child development, or a related field or a CDA Credential. Prior experience in childcare or early childhood/elementary education is preferred.
Essential Job FunctionsEssential job functions include communication and organizational skills along with the physical abilities to bend, kneel, lift, and carry up to 40 lbs as necessary to meet the needs of young children. The work environment is typical of a school environment. However, this position involves daily exposure to weather elements. Candidates must possess adequate vision, hearing acuity, physical ability, strength, and stamina to perform the required responsibilities and activities associated with supervision and program delivery.
This position is often the first line of contact with parents, so a high level of interpersonal skills is valued.
