Overview
The Consortium Library at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is seeking a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Library Science to serve as the Instruction, Research, and Liaison Librarian for the STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at UAA and Alaska Pacific University (APU).
ResponsibilitiesThe STEM Librarian will provide instruction (F2F, hybrid, and online), research services, collection development, and outreach to programs in their areas. Duties include creating and leading course‑integrated instruction on STEM‑related information literacy, serving as liaison for STEM‑related Alaska Native programs and courses, collaborating with other liaisons, and supporting the Library’s information literacy program as a high‑impact educational practice. The role also involves integrating new technologies and e‑pedagogy into teaching, developing online learning objects and experiences, and increasing AI literacy presence in STEM areas.
Qualifications- Master’s degree from an ALA‑accredited Library and Information Science program or equivalent by July/August 2026, and one year of library work experience.
- Education, knowledge, or experience relevant to the STEM liaison areas, including government resources.
- Teaching, training, or presenting experience and/or experience providing research or information services.
- Experience with library and digital resources, tools, and services such as discovery services, libguides, web‑based instructional technologies, screen‑casting software, tutorial or module creation software such as Lib Wizard, Zoom, or course management systems.
This full‑time, 9 + 3 position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage, AK.
