School of Social Work Adjunct Faculty

Job Summary

The UAA School of Social Work is seeking adjunct instructors for part‑time teaching in undergraduate and graduate social work programs. Adjunct faculty will develop and deliver instructional materials, provide guidance and support to students, and promote decolonizing and anti‑oppressive teaching practices.

• Develop and deliver instructional materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments, in accordance with program curriculum and learning objectives.
• Provide guidance and support to students, including mentoring, advising, and academic assistance.
• Collaborate with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

• MSW or a master’s degree in a closely related discipline is required; a doctorate in Social Work or a closely related field is preferred.
• Experience teaching course content in one or more of the following BSW and MSW curricular areas: human diversity; human behavior in the social environment; social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and/or communities; case management; social work research; social work program evaluation; and social welfare policy.
• Previous teaching experience highly desirable, with strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.

• Part‑time, for‑credit adjunct faculty position. Salary is based on experience and number of previous semesters taught within the University of Alaska.
• Appointment is semester‑by‑semester, with hiring decisions made each semester according to schedule needs.
• Union represented adjunct position; the position may be canceled based on university needs.
