The College of Arts and Sciences, Natural Science Division at UAA seeks applicants for its adjunct instructor pool for the following departments:
Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Geological Sciences, and Physics & Astronomy.
Adjunct faculty are expected to teach undergraduate courses in their discipline, engaging effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, administration, and the general public. Assignments will be made from a hiring pool on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Successful candidates will be evaluated on suitability of academic preparation, past teaching experience, expertise in their discipline, and potential for high‑quality instruction consistent with course content guides.

- MA/MS in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, or Physics/Astronomy or a related field, unless an exception has been approved by the Dean of CAS.
- Faculty teaching upper‑division courses or graduate courses should hold a terminal degree in the appropriate discipline.
- Exceptions may be made for candidates with special professional credentials and experience.
This part‑time, represented adjunct position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus. Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester‑by‑semester appointment. Qualified applicants are placed into a hiring pool; acceptance to the pool does not guarantee appointment. New hires will be placed on the adjunct salary schedule as outlined in the UNAD CBA, based on education and experience. The position is represented by United Academic – Adjuncts, AAUP‑AFT/AFL‑CIO.
